Set on the Tropic of Capricorn in central Queensland, Capricorn Coast is the area surrounding Rockhampton. It enjoys constant temperatures of around 25 degrees, making it a great destination all year round. Capricorn Coast is relatively undiscovered, meaning that its seaside villages and beautiful beaches remain quiet and unspoiled. It’s the perfect place for relaxation, whether you prefer deserted beaches, tranquil golf courses or a peaceful day’s sailing.
In Rockhampton itself, you can visit the art collection in Rockhampton Art Gallery, explore the exciting Capricorn Caves, or even experience the bustle of a genuine cattle auction. |

Heading further out, you can take a bushwalk through Carnarvon Gorge, visit the Capella Aquatic Centre, or wander through the tranquil Japanese Gardens at Blackwater. If you’d like to experience Capricorn Coast from the sea, you can hire a charter boat for a day or two and visit the Keppel Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
If you’re interest in Australia’s aboriginal history, pay a visit to the Dreamtime Cultural Centre, where you can take part in activities like boomerang-throwing and didgeridoo-playing.
Food lovers may know that Capricorn Coast is famous as the ‘Beef Capital of Australia’ and there is certainly plenty of beef to be found on restaurant menus. However, the gastronomic delights of the region extend much further than this. You will be able to enjoy locally caught crabs and prawns, buy lychees and pineapples from the local markets and taste freshly squeezed juices in the cafes and bars.
