CN Tower


The tower stands at 1,815 feet tall and was the largest free standing tower until 2007. The tower was created for the Canadian National Railway and the project commencing in 1972. The tower was finished in 1975 and was opened to the public in 1976.

There are several different substructures that make up the CN Tower. Each one has a different shape and form; from the hexagonal pillar of the main portion of the tower, to the Sky Pod which holds biggest observation deck. There are also safety systems in place such as a 24 hour monitoring system, fireproof building materials and a ban on gas appliances in the tower. The tower includes the 360 Restaurant, a revolving restaurant that rotates completely every 72 minutes at 1,151 feet above the ground.

To get there, you need to fly into Toronto via Pearson International Airport. The CN Tower is located on 301 Front Street West and John Street. Driving there, you follow Highway 427 to Toronto and exit onto Spadina Avenue. Turn right onto Bremner Boulevard. Tour buses will also take you there, stopping south of the Tower. By subway get off at Union Station, walk along Front Street and you are there. By foot from downtown, it will take you just five minutes to walk from the Theater District. Taxis will also take you to the site. If you're driving from the east, you can take Highway 401 to Toronto , Exit Don Valley Parkway S. Turn onto Gardiner Expressway, and exit at Spadina Ave. N and turn right onto Bremner. There is parking at this location.
