Cultural Center of the Philippines


The opening festival was attended by internationally known persons such as the California Governor and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. Ferdinand Marcos enacted Executive Order No. 30 to create the CCP it had the purpose of promoting and preserving Filipino arts and culture. It was also hoped that it would become the mecca of culture and arts in Asia . The CCP has been used a venue for the IMF summit and the 1974 Miss Universe Pageant.

It is composed of many theaters. Each theater is used for a different purpose. Its theaters are the CCP Main Theater for orchestras, musicals and symphonic concerts, the Little Theater, Studio Theater, Folk Arts Theater, Dream Theater for films. The CCP Main Building or the National Theater also has a museum, galleries and a library. The administrative office is located in this building. It has exhibit halls the Bulwagang Juan Luna, Bulwagang Fernando Amorsolo, Little Theater Lobby, Pasilyo Victorio Edades, Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino, and Pasilyo Vicente Mananasala. CCP has satellite venues in different universities.

The CCP has many resident companies. It has four resident dance companies, orchestras and a theater company. For over thirty years, it is the center for art and culture. It covers mass media too. It extends workshops, seminars, outreach programs, and competitions. The CCP has been continuously establishing and maintaining ties with international organizations for arts. The exchange program allows for culture exchange and sows the seeds of creativity among participants.

It is located in CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard Pasay City , Manila Philippines . Landmarks include Vito Cruz Station, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Harrison Plaza . The front of the CCP Little Theater Entrance is the nearest jeepney stop from Roxas Boulevard . Admission prices will vary according to the theater and performance to be attended.
