Honduras Travel

Honduras is an independent country in the Central America. In the past, it was formerly known as the Spanish Honduras. This country is now bordered to the West by Guatemala, to the South - West by the sunny country of El Salvador, to the South - East by Nicaragua, to the South by the Pacific Ocean at the Gulf of Fonseca, and to the North by the Gulf of Honduras, being a very large inlet of the beautiful and unique Caribbean Sea. 

The climate varies from the Tropical and Sub - Tropical climate in the lowlands to Temperate climate in the very high and big mountains and the Central and Southern regions, which are relatively hotter and warmer, and less humid than the Northern Coastline. The dry season is here from the autumn month of November to the spring month of April and the wet and humid (rainy) season is from the month of May till October.

Warmer, and also bigger, clothes are usually recommended between the colder month of November and February and always in the mountainous areas. Umbrellas and waterproofs are very much needed, in order to resist in the wet seasons.

This country is enjoying a boom in popularity, and is now known like a great ecotourism destinations, with inexpensive scuba diving operations, river rafting, and mountain treks. Honduras has approximately 700 species of varied and diverse birds including the Harpy eagle or some rare mammals like the amazing jaguars, incredible pumas, giant ocelots, very big anteaters, and tapir and the mantled howler monkeys; it has also the region with the most extensive and biggest tracts of natural cloud forest and the largest known remaining area of the old - primary Equatorial forests and rainforests.

The Inner Bay Islands are surrounded by the world's second largest coral reef; it has many beautiful bottlenose dolphins, amazing manta rays, incredible parrot fish, schools of blue tang and sometimes lots of whale sharks. Copan is now considered the Athens of the ancient Mayan Civilization with the beaches of a singular beauty, with exuberant scenery and colonial towns with living cultures throughout the country.

Tegucigalpa is the capital city of Honduras and the largest city from this country. The epicenter of the shopping in this city is the Multiplaza, a multi - level indoor shopping mall, which includes a major grocery store, a movie theater complex, restaurants, bars, discos, banking and of course, many international retail shops. Other shopping malls are the Las Cascadas and the Metro Mall, both with stores and restaurants, and even bars. Smaller shopping centers and strip malls can be found all over the city and in the bigger towns and cities across the whole country.
