Palace on Wheels

The Palace on Wheels allows the passenger to explore the mysteries of this ancient land. Traveling through northwest India, the lifestyle of the Rajasthan culture is re-created on board the train, and the itinerary is designed to showcase landmarks and sites associated with the Rajasthan; the journey takes seven dights and eight days and covers the cities of New Delhi ( the origin city), Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Agra, Delhi, and many more.

In carriages decorated in Rajasthani textiles and comprising some of the most decadent train carriages of any train today, with cuisines of Rajasthan curries, one will indeed feel like a pampered member of Indian royalty after seven days aboard this train, and will come away with knowledge of this fascinating culture that can only be gained and experienced aboard this exclusive train.

After boarding the train on day one in New Delhi, the passengers will sleep overnight on the Palace on Wheels and accustom themselves to the luxurious and exotic surroundings of their compartments. Arriving on day two in Jaipur, known as the land of the Maharajas, one will disembark and tour this city in an air-conditioned vehicle, visiting a number of palaces, the Amber fort (which also includes an elephant ride), the City Palace, and other notable landmarks. On day three one will arrive in the city of Jaisalmer, located in the heart of the Thar desert, where one will tour the Jaisalmer Fort, enjoy a camel ride over the Sam sand dunes, and experience a cultural program at a five star hotel before returning to the train for the night. Day four will take one to the city of Jodhpur, a city surrounded by high stone walls, seven gates, and seven bastions, where one will visit Jaswant Thada and the Meherangarh Fort, two of this city’s most memorable sites.

A slightly different type of itinerary will be followed for the rest of the trip, with the scenery and sites visited changing to wildlife sanctuaries and lush lakes and greenery, a sharp contrast to the desert and sandstone forts toured above. Day five will take the passenger to the city of Sawai Modhopur , where one will visit Ranthambhor National Park, renowned as the country’s best observation points of the tiger as well as being a sanctuary of more than 300 birds; later in the day the passenger will visit the city of Chittaurgarh and its famous Chittaurgarh Fort. ON Day six the passenger will arrive in the city of Udaipur, where one will see some of the best natural scenery of this trip, with enchanting deep lakes and lush vegetation, and tour two beautiful marble palaces, Jag Niwas ( Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, as well as the city Palace and the Lake Palace. The final day, an d tour, of this jo8rney is in the icyt of Bharatpur, where one will visit one of the world’s finest bird sanctuary, Agra, where one of the main highlights o =f this tuor, the Taj Mahal, will be toured, along iwht the Agra fort and Tombs. This dizzying, amazing, and informative tour will steep the passenger in the wonders of this fascinating Indian culture and, for seven days, completely immerse him in the lifestyle, history, and sites of the Rajasthan people; one will indeed for like a member of its royalty and part of another world at the end of this magnificent trip.
