Of all the emirate states, Dubai is the undisputed king of all tourism in the UAE. It has quickly become one of the most sought out hot spots on the globe and the crown jewel of the UAE. Dubai is the proud home to many of the "world's firsts" and all the sites are impressive and mind blowing. Earth's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Dubai, is the centerpiece of Dubai and rises up over 2000 feet. The Hydropolis Underwater Hotel and Resort, the first luxury underwater hotel, is tucked 66 feet under Jumeira Beach. Ski Dubai, the first indoors ski resort in the Middle East, gives you access to 5 runs of fresh powder year round.
Dubailand, a gargantuan theme park covering more than 3 billion square feet, features innumerable roller coasters, water parks, sports facilities, flea markets, souqs, and so very much more. Dubai even has the world's first air conditioned bus shelters. And of course, no mention of Dubai would be complete without covering the famed Palms Island and World Islands, a series of man made private residential islands in the shape of a palm tree and the world. Dubai is determined to be the planet's favorite travel destination and continues to break ground on the most elaborate and exciting projects worldwide.
UAE cuisine offers every kind of food you could possibly want, although it should be said that the local cuisine is wonderfully diverse and should be experienced at every opportunity. Small local cafes and neighborhood food stalls are everywhere. For a truly local experience, be sure to visit the many Shisha cafes where you can sip popular varieties of coffees and teas, munch on some sharwarmas, and smoke a shisha pipe, also known as a Hubble-bubble pipe. Freshly caught seafood is available in abundance and prepared with Arabic flair. You can always find crab, shrimp, tuna, and kingfish being grilled and broiled with exotic regional spices. Be aware that Muslims are absolutely prohibited from eating pork and it will generally be excluded from every menu.
The best time to travel through the UAE is between October and May. June through September should be avoided due to the excessive heat and humidity. However, everything is air conditioned from the resorts and shops to the buses and taxis.
